About Us
Thornhill Nursery School & Kindergarten
Our
School
Thornhill Nursery School & Kindergarten is a non-profit, non-denominational preschool featuring spacious, bright classrooms and a fully equipped, fenced-in outdoor playground area. Licensed since 1956, our goal is to provide a stimulating, challenging and progressive educational experience in a safe and nurturing environment, while remaining one of the most cost-effective options for parents within Northern Toronto and central York Region.
SINCE 1956
Our Philosophy
Thornhill Nursery School & Kindergarten provides a unique curriculum and learning experience that balances and blends student-led and teacher-led activities throughout the day. This allows for play- based exploration to seamlessly accompany academically focused activities to create an exceptional foundation for primary school and a lifetime of learning. Our warm and nurturing environment focuses on building self-esteem and self-confidence through hands-on experiences and enrichment opportunities that promote creativity and social interaction. Our curriculum, along with low student teacher ratios allows for daily 1 to 1 attention to ensure that each child reaches both their academic and social potential. Behaviour management is based on setting realistic age-appropriate limits while working with the child to gain control of their own emotional and physical regulation. We aim to foster kindness and empathy in children to understand their impact on their classmates, teachers, and family.
